When you’re absently scrolling through your Instagram feed, and come to that inevitable photo of the most beautiful girl and she is wearing all black in the most casual and chic way, do you think to yourself, “It looks so easy to pull off, but it just doesn’t look as good on me”? I know I have tried to style this model off duty uniform several times but couldn’t get it to look quite right for me. Here’s how you can get a black head-to-toe look to work for you.The easiest way I’ve found? Don’t go strictly all black but break it up just slightly with your accessories. The main portion of this look is all black, but the pop of leopard and tan make the overall look more interesting and less harsh and thus easier to pull off. I’ve been wearing a lot of black this winter and throwing in some blush or tan accents (even a print or pattern) can make all the difference.
Next week my sister turns 30 and we are celebrating her birthday this weekend. I’m really looking forward to celebrating with her and family and hopefully it’s all fun and no “I’m getting old!” stress. I’m the youngest of my siblings and I even felt a bit stressed about my last birthday. I don’t know why we suffocate ourselves with this idea that younger is better. Sometimes I catch myself thinking “I wish I was still 24” and then quickly remind myself everything I’ve learned in the years since then (which for me, has pretty much been all my adult life knowledge).
So let’s take a moment this week to celebrate every year of knowledge, love and laughter we’ve earned in our lives, and remember that a number on a calendar defines us about as much as a number on a scale.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend,
